An Open Indignation Letter Addressed to Philippine President Benigno ‘Noynoy’ Aquino III

Mr. President, in your inaugural speech at the Quirino Grandstand on June 30, 2010,
you announced before the public that you “will be sincere in dealing with all the peoples of
Mindanao”; thus, for this reason you pledged yourself to “a peaceful and just settlement of
conflict, inclusive of the interests of all – may they be Lumads, Bangsamoro or Christian”.
You also emphatically declared: “You (the people) are the boss so I cannot ignore
your orders.” In Tagalog: “Kayo ang boss ko.”

These pronouncements renewed in us that spirit of optimism oozing with hope that a
peaceful and just political settlement of the conflict in the Bangsamoro will finally be
resolved under your watch.Align Center
At that moment, we thought that at last here was a Filipino president who meant
serious business; a president who could empathize with the plight of the long-oppressed
Bangsamoro people because he, too, experienced the trauma of state oppression and
persecution; a president who, like many among our brethren, had lost his own father to the
forces of evil that once governed this country.

Mr. President, we feasted on your words of promise like starving men marooned on a
desert of despair.

Our spirits were further buoyed, thus, when you announced that the GRP Peace Panel
negotiating with the MILF had been reconstituted with a new set of members under a law
professor meticulously selected by you on the basis of their competence, knowledge,
experience and sympathy for Mindanao.

And when you likewise announced that peace talks would immediately resume after
Ramadhan, we went ballistic with joy. We were beginning to see the light at the end of the
dark tunnel. The pervasive darkness of war and conflict that blighted our Moro homeland,
at last, was about to be dissipated by the light of freedom and justice. Elusive peace seemed
no longer elusive.

Or so we thought.

For, suddenly things have changed. In the 100 days that you’ve assumed office, the
feeling of the people on the ground has progressively turned from hope to disenchantment
to anger. For, like an automobile on reverse gear, instead of moving forward the quest for
peace and justice, your government has begun to move backwards at a faster acceleration
than what it promised to fulfill at the beginning of your administration.

You have closed the door to constitutional amendment that would have
accommodated any final political compact agreement with the MILF, which, for your
information in case you’ve not yet realized it, has already conceded to constitutional
remedy to allow the restoration of peace in our troubled land. Hence, by the very
pronouncement of your government shutting down the avenues to constitutional
amendment even before the resumption of talks could begin, you have already dealt the
death blow to any prospective peace agreement with the MILF by consigning it beforehand
to the same fate as the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MOA-AD) in
2008.

Not satisfied with that, you have created conditions which lead to the nullification of
the gains of the peace process. Your Department of Foreign Affairs has issued new orders to
foreign governments, institutions and NGOs, including those actively providing assistance to
our poverty-stricken people and our refugees, to seek prior clearance and approval from
your government before engaging the MILF in dialogues or launching humanitarian
activities in the conflict-affected areas of Mindanao and Sulu.

You have also insisted that peace talks with the MILF should be in the Philippines, not
in Malaysia or, for that matter, in any other neutral foreign venue as had been agreed upon
by the MILF and the Philippine government in 2001.

Alas, Mr. President, now we are beginning to realize that when you mentioned in
your speech before the joint Houses of Congress that the conflict in Mindanao is merely “a
situation”, you really meant what you said. The hundreds of thousands of refugees
dislocated and the thousands of lives lost every time war breaks out in Mindanao and Sulu
are as trivial a “situation” to you as the bungled Manila hostage-taking incident.

This sinister move that intends to isolate the MILF from the international community
and in the process control if not prevent the flow of humanitarian aid to the victims of war
is an unconscionable act that makes you no different from your predecessors. It is sheer
hambug on your part and your government to presume you can resolve and handle alone
the Internally Displaced People (IDP) problem in our homeland without foreign
humanitarian assistance. In case you have not read the papers, the World Food Program of
the UN has just issued a public statement as posted in the Philippine Daily Inquirer dated
October 12, 2010 that 250,000 people in Mindanao still displaced by war and natural
disasters are starving and would need $26 million in food and other kinds of assistance. This
assistance you cannot provide -nor were your predecessors able to – not only because of
entrenched corruption in government but more significantly because in your word the
Mindanao conflict is “a situation” which implies it is nothing to worry about. The truth is:
the IDPs or the resolution of the conflict is not in the list of your national priorities.

And now you want the international community to stop its humanitarian activities in
Mindanao and Sulu without your prior approval? Not only would this drive our people
further into the deep bowels of poverty, misery and hopelessness, you are forcing them to
abandon the ways of peace to redress legitimate grievances.

Which means, Mr. President, that you are rekindling the embers of the armed conflict
whose flames had been reduced to a flicker by the peace negotiation and its promise of a
just peace in our homeland.

Are the bottomless pockets of your so-called peace advisers, who, we know, have
earned the infamous reputation for making fast bucks out of foreign aid assistance to the
refugees in Mindanao and Sulu, more important to you than the welfare of the IDPs or the
future of peace in Mindanao?

Lest you forget, Mr. President, you announced in Ramadhan 2010 that the immediate
resumption of peace talks with the MILF shall commence after the holy month.
With great anticipation and eagerness, we waited for your words to come true. Then
suddenly, the news of the arrest of Brother Edward Guerra, a senior member of the Central
Committee of the MILF in charge of foreign affairs, who was arrested by agents of the CIDGPNP
at the Davao International Airport in September 22 to attend a UN conference on
human rights in Geneva, hit us like a thunderbolt. We also learned from his family and
lawyer that he was tortured while in maximum security detention at Fort Bonifacio. Brother
Edward Guerra’s health is in a precarious state given his heart ailment, diabetes and
hypertension.

Your late father, for reasons that need not be explained, would have created havoc in
his grave if he were to learn that your government still uses torture on helpless political
prisoners, especially on those afflicted by heart ailments.

The depression that we felt upon learning this morphed into extreme apprehension
when news also brought to us the information that MILF members involved in peace
monitoring were arrested by your military and police in Maguindanao.

We also learned that the arrest warrant for Brother Edward Guerra was issued by the
court on September 1, 2010. This was well within the timeframe of your invitation, Mr.
President, to the MILF to resume talks with your government!

What game of grand deception are you trying to play on us, Mr. President?

The reaction of your Chief Negotiator, Prof. Marvic Leonen, to the protest filed by the
MILF on this matter is quite revealing. Leonen said that Brother Edward Guerra is not in the
list of the MILF Peace Negotiating Panel. What he infers, therefore, is that his arrest and
subsequent torture in the hands of his captors are justified.

Even then, the deafening silence of your Presidential Peace Adviser, Secretary Ging
Deles, on this matter that is crucial to the fate of the negotiations, is, to say the least,
strange. So strange that we wonder whether a presidential peace adviser does really exist in
fact or just in the imagination of Ms. Deles.

At any rate, does this mean, Mr. President, that any member of the MILF from the
rank and file who is not a member of the MILF Peace Negotiating Panel is an open prey?
Following this argument, even Brother Al Haj Murad Ebrahim, the MILF Chairman who is not
among the listed six members of the MILF Panel, can be arrested anytime by your state
police and military!

The convoluted logic of your Chief Negotiator, Mr. President, deliberately leaves out
the fact that the principal of the MILF Peace Negotiating Panel is the MILF Central
Committee of which Brother Edward Guerra is a senior member, being chair of its Foreign
Affairs Committee. Technically, in view of the peace talks being held in foreign venues,
principally Malaysia, the negotiations are within the jurisdiction of the Foreign Affairs
Committee he currently chairs.

For all intents and purposes, Mr. President, Bro. Edward Guerra is as much an
important principal of the MILF Peace Negotiating Panel as MILF Chairman Al Haj Murad
Ebrahim, the two vice-chairmen, and all the other members of the Central Committee of the
MILF.

Mr. President, in case you still miss the dire implication of the arrests of Brother
Edward Guerra and other MILF members similarly abducted by your state police and
military, allow us to inform you now that this is tantamount to a declaration of a new war
against the MILF and the Bangsamoro people.

It is in this context, Mr. President, that we hold you and your government responsible
for any outbreak of hostilities in the Bangsamoro.

We are no longer afraid of war. The long-running conflict in our homeland has
drained the last drop of fear from us. What is left are desperation and hopelessness; a
permanent and pervasive feeling of insecurity under the Philippine state. And if indeed fear
remains, it is the fear that peace will remain as elusive as ever.

We are afraid that in the event peace and justice are not realized in our time through
peaceful negotiations, the argument that only though the barrel of the gun can such peace
and justice be achieved will rule the day and the days yet to come.

Do not squander the remaining years of your presidency, Mr. President, and leave the
future of peace in Mindanao and Sulu to be shipwrecked on the barren rocks of war and
conflict. This is what your predecessors did.

You promised that you will be different from them.
So prove it, Mr. President, not merely by uttering empty rhetorical and meaningless
statements but by sincerity emanating from the heart and animated by affirmative action.

Prove it, Mr. President, before you are overtaken by time.

Prove it, Mr. President that we, the people of the Bangsamoro and not only the
people of Luzon and Visayas and the settlers in Mindanao, are also your “boss”.

If you think that we do not deserve to be in the same category as your constituents in
Luzon, Visayas and the Christian-dominated areas in Mindanao, then leave us Moros alone
in peace so we can forge our own future in freedom as a people and as a nation.

"VOTING IN SECULAR SYSTEM IS HARAM"

SALAAM, LET ME SHARE A BEAUTIFUL POST FROM A LONDON BASED WEBSITE (www.hizb.org.uk)

Electing is giving the power of attorney (authority) to someone to do things on your behalf and is halaal (permitted) in general.... See More

However, in secular democracy electing or voting means to give someone – man or woman – the authority to make laws instead of Allah, denying His (swt) sole right to make laws that manage our lives. This is categorically forbidden (haram).

La Ilaha Illa Allah means Worship, Legislation, Ruling, Obedience, Loyalty and friendship are only with Almighty Allah (swt) alone. No one worthy of worship except Him, no one worthy of obedience except Him, no one has the right to legislate except Him, no rules worthy of implementation except His Divine Rules, we’re only loyal to Him and no one is our friend except Him alone (swt) and the Believers.

“Indeed legislation (ruling, judgment, command) is only for Allah; He has commanded that you shall not serve aught but Him; this is the right religion but most people do not know” (TMQ 12:40)

“Or have they partners (of Allah) who have made lawful for them in religion that which Allah allowed not? (TMQ 42:21)

To legislate or make rules by other than what Allah (swt) has revealed is absolutely forbidden. Allah (swt) gives His law the superiority, and commands that it should be implemented to rule between people and solve their problems. Furthermore, He (swt), the Supreme, describes those who do not rule by His Shariah to be the disbelievers, oppressors or transgressors.

“And whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the disbelievers …oppressors… transgressors” (TMQ 5:44,45,47) )

In addition, our Iman is not complete unless we seek judgment and ruling by that which the Prophet (saw) has brought from Allah (swt)

“But no! by your Lord! they do not believe (in reality) until they make you a judge of that which has become a matter of disagreement among them, and then do not find any straitness in their hearts as to what you have decided and submit with entire submission” (TMQ 4:65)

By voluntarily voting in a democratic system based on a secular constitution we willingly choose and authorise humans to legislate and legalise evil (Munkar) and rule according to it. We authorise –willingly and happily- humans to implement a system that is known for its corruption in all aspects of life; political, economic, social, educational…etc. Not only that, but we also –willingly- authorise and request them to protect and preserve this kufr (man-made) system and this way of life!

Accordingly, based on clear cut evidences from the Quran, participation in the general election is a clear Haraam act, as it compromises the foundation of the Islamic Aqeedah.

O’ Muslims, in addition to this, we came to say something else. This is a deceptive plan where elections are attempts to integrate Muslims – encouraging us to vote and assimilate into the prevailing western culture.

O’ Muslims, although some of us may be mistakenly seeking to vote as a means of “helping” or “benefiting” the Muslims who live in Britain or elsewhere, the fact remains that a Haraam action brings no true and lasting benefits according to the Islamic criteria of Jannah and Jahannam. Voting for the man-made laws is clearly Haraam and contradictory to “politics” illustrated in the noble Sunnah of the Prophet (saw).

O’ Muslims, we must protect and strengthen our loyalties to each other as a Muslim Ummah that is “distinct” and “unique” from all the rest of mankind. Each Muslim must preserve his/her loyalty and alliance exclusively for Allah (swt), His Messenger (saw), and the Believers among the Muslims.

“And the believers, men and women, are protecting friends (allies) one of another” (TMQ 9:71)

“And incline (or accept) not to those who do wrong, or the Fire will seize you; and you have no protectors other than Allah, nor shall you be helped” (TMQ 11:113)

O’ Muslims, we must ask ourselves some tough questions about voting and other forms of participation in the upcoming elections:

1. How can a Muslim choose a LEGISLATOR or any other human being over Allah thereby disqualifying Him (swt) as the sole Ruler and Legislator?
2. How can a Muslim who claims to believe in Allah (swt) and follow His Messenger (saw) abandon the noble Sunnah of The Prophet (saw), to support the corrupt secular capitalism?
3. How many more times will Muslims choose the “lesser of two evils” and continue producing the Blairs and Browns of this world who mercilessly bomb and brutalize our brothers and sisters overseas?
4. How much longer will the Muslims claim to “show the good of Islam” and “give dawah” by voting for the kufr and corrupt system rather than conveying the noble Message of Islam according to the method of The Prophet (saw)?

O’ Muslims, we must refuse to legitimize these Haraam (forbidden) activities of supporting “evil” or “more evil” candidates to rule by kufr. Moreover, we must insist on saving ourselves and our society by shifting all of our attention, energy, loyalty, and money toward the struggle to make Islam supreme.

This can be done by following the Sunnah of The Prophet (saw) to strengthen ourselves and our families with clarity, confidence, and conviction about protecting our Islamic identity, strengthening the Muslims, teaching our children and family about our way of life, supporting Islamic activism, joining the “political” work to resume the Islamic way of life and all the other blessed actions ordered and rewarded by Allah (swt).

O’ Muslims, the only way we can guarantee our true benefits, in this life and the next one, is by adhering to the divine Sharia rules, as it will be the criterion on the Day of Judgment. Nothing and no one could harm us except by the will and decree of Allah (swt).

We will continue to engage in this Da’wah work for the resumption of the Islamic way of life in this so-called “mother of all democracies” and invite you to join this work so we may be successful in this life and the hereafter.

“O you who believe! Answer Allah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he (saw) calls you to that which will give you life” (TMQ 8:24)

GAZI ANWAR PASHA'S LAST LETTER TO HIS WIFE

JIHAAD FI SABILILLAH
GAZI ANWAR PASHA'S LAST LETTER TO HIS WIFE

Gazi Anwar Pasha was from among those great Mujahideen (Islamic Warriors) of Turkey who had spent all his life fighting against the enemies of Islam. Eventually he was martyred by the Russian Bolsheviks. Only a day prior to his martyrdom. He sent a letter to his wife, Princess Najiya Sultana. This letter was published by her in the Turkish newspaper and after being translated, was published in the Newspapers in India on the 22nd of April 1923.

This letter was so touching and thought provoking that every young man or woman should read it. We present this translation for the benefit of our
Bangsa Moro Muslim readers.

" My life companion and my fountain of hapiness and joy"
Dearest Najiya,

The High and Almighty Allah is your Guardian. Your last letter is in front of me
at this moment, Believe me this letter of yours will always be held close to my heart.
I cannot see your face, But in between the lines and words of your letter, I can see your
beautiful fingers which used to play with my hair. In the dark interior of my tent occasionally
your pictures fills my eyes.

Alas! You write that I have frogotten you, And that I do not care for your love.

You say that I have broken your loving heart and I am playing with fire and blood
in a distant and forsaken place, and that I am unmindful of a woman who spends the nightsanxiously counting the stars. You also say that I like war, And that I love sword (GUN), But little did you realize that when writing that those words of yours which undoubtedly were written with sincerity and out of your deep love and devotion for me, will bleed my heart. How can iconvince you (for words are inadequate) that there is no dearer to me in this world than you.

You are the culmination of all my love and and affection. I have never loved anyone before,
For you are the only one who has stolen my heart. Then what has separated me from you. Oh! The joy of my heart! You can ask this question in a proper manner. Listen:

" I am not away from you because i desire material wealth or gains, nor is it because I wish to establish a kingdom or throne for myself as my enemies have publicly intimated. The only reason why am away from you is that Allah's obligatory command has brought me here (battlefield). There is no greater Fards (Compulsory Command) of ALLAH than JIHAD FI SABILILLAH (fighting with arms in the way of ALLAH ). It is this command of ALLAH, The mere mention of fulfilling it, entitlesa person a place of paradise. Alhamdulillah! I am not only have the intention to fulfill this command,But i am actively carrying it out in the battlefield. Your absence, Like arrows, is cutiing my heart into pieces every moment. Notwithsatnding this, I am happy in this separation as it is your truly love and your love alone which is the greatest test and and challenge to my intention and resolution to fight in the path of Allah. I thank ALLAH Ta'ala a thousand times that i have been victorious in this test and havehave been succesfull in putting ALLAH's love and Command before my love and the pleasure of my desire(nafs). You also my darling, must thank ALLAH and be happy that your husband possesses, such a strong IMAN (Faith) that he can even sacrifice your love for the love of ALLAH.

Although, Jihad with sword is not compulsory on you my loved, yet, you are not exempted
from it . No Muslim, Male or Female is exempted from Jihad.

Your Jihad is that, You must put ALLAH's love before your love and pleasure and you
must make the bond of love between your husband and your self stronger. Look! Never pray that your husband must come and safe from the battlefield into your loving arms. This
prayer is selfish, and ALLAH will not be pleased. Rather let your prayer be this: " That ALLAH accept the jihad of your husband and bring him back succesfully, otherwise let his lips imbibethe cup of martyrdom. These lips, you know my darling have never been touched or dirtied by alcohol, but have always been kept busy with reciting the holy Qur'an and hymning the glory and praises of ALLAH SUBHANAHU WATA'ALA.

Dearest Najiya, how blessed will that moment be, when in the path of ALLAH, this
head which affectionately called beautiful, will be separated from the body which in your eyes was not a soldiers's (enemy's) body but a beloved's beautiful body. Anwar's greatest desire is to be martyred and be judged on the day of Qiyamat (Judgement) with hadrat Khalid bin walid(peace be upon him.)

This world is a temporary one and death will definitely come. Then why fear death?
If death is definite, then why should a man die lying on a bed? Death in the path of ALLAH
is not death but indeed an everlasting life.

Najiya, listen to my will: if I am martyred, you must marry ny brother NOORI PASHA
After you, the dearest person to me is NOORI. It is my wish that after my demise he (NOORI) will faithfully care for you during your lifetime. My next wish is that, All the children you bear, tell them about my life, and send all of them to the battlefield of JIHAD for Islam and our country. Remember, If you do not fulfill this wish of mine I will be angry with you in Jannah (paradise). My third wasiat( will) is that you must always be faithful and well-wisher of Mustapha kamal Pasha (later on Mustapha became an infidel), and must help him in every posiible manner because in this time ALLAH choose him (Mustapha) to bring salvation to our country. Farewell, my dearest...I dont know why my inner feeling tells me that after this letter I will never be able to write another letter to you. It is no wonder that I may be martyred tommorow. Look! Be sabar (patient). on my death (martyrdom) in the path of ALLAH is an honor for you.

Najiya, I now beg leave of you and in the world of thought I am embracing you.
Insha Allah, we will met in Jannah and thereafter we will never part.

with love and tears,
ANWAR PASHA
Note: ( Gazi anwar Pasha was martyred the following day)
